World Meditation Day
Returning to Ourselves
As a 45-year meditation practitioner and teacher for over 30 years, I can honestly say—not a day goes by that meditation doesn’t support me in some way. Whether in moments of joy or deep challenge, it’s the space I return to again and again to reconnect with myself, find steadiness, and soften into presence.
A Moment to Pause, Breathe, and Come Home
In a world that rarely stops spinning, World Meditation Day invites us to do something radical: pause.
Not to escape.
Not to perfect.
But to return—to ourselves, to our breath, to the simple truth of this moment.
Meditation isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who we already are beneath the noise, the worry, the roles we play. It’s about creating space to breathe when everything feels tight. And maybe, just maybe, finding a little more ease.
Why We Sit
We don’t meditate to “get it right.”
We meditate to meet what’s real—within us and around us.
Sometimes that means silence and peace.
Sometimes it means tears, restlessness, resistance.
But always, it’s an act of courage. A willingness to stay.
In my own journey, meditation has been a steady companion through joy, grief, illness, creativity, and overwhelm. It hasn’t erased life’s difficulties—but it’s given me a way to face them with steadiness and compassion.
Some days, it’s five minutes.
Some days, longer.
But it always matters.

A Simple Practice for Today
Wherever you are, you can begin.
Sit comfortably or lie down.
Close your eyes, if you feel safe.
Let your hands rest gently.
Breathe in slowly through your nose.
Breathe out gently through your mouth.
And again.
And again.
There is no right way—only your way.
Just notice. Just breathe. Just be.
Let this be your reminder:
You don’t have to wait for the world to calm down to find your peace.
You can begin now.
You Are Your Practice
On this World Meditation Day, I invite you to come home to yourself.
Whether you’ve been meditating for years or are just beginning—know this:
Every breath you take in awareness matters.
Every time you return to stillness, you are healing.
Every time you choose presence, you are choosing peace.
Not just for yourself—but for the world around you.
Thank you for being on this path.
For showing up.
For remembering.
With love and stillness,
💜 Deb
